Symposium to celebrate Martin Hellwig’s 70th birthday

The institute held a symposium in the honor of Martin Hellwig, on the occasion of his 70th birthday. Nobel laureates Oliver Hart and Jean Tirole gave keynotes. Philippe Aghion held the laudatio. A panel featuring Elu von Thadden, Patrick Bolton and Marco Pagano reflected Martin Hellwig’s work on financial stability. A panel of Achim Wambach, Monika Schnitzer and Patrick Rey mirrored Martin Hellwig’s engagement with competition policy. The theorist Martin Hellwig was addressed in a panel on public economic theory, by Felix Bierbrauer, Bas Jacobs, Hans Gersbach and Aleh Tsyvinski. The institute is proud of its emeritus director, and wishes him fascinating research, and strong health.
